Since 2003, Surf Star Media has crafted websites, videos, and media that help small businesses—general contractors, mechanics, realtors, restaurants, construction trades, and more—share compelling stories and grow. Rooted in Maine but serving clients nationwide (with past work for Sony Music, Major League Baseball, Vans Warped Tour, City of Scottsdale, City of Tempe), we prioritize easy-to-use, memorable content that drives real results.

We're seeking a **Maine-based freelance photographer/videographer** to capture the heart and soul of our clients' stories through powerful stills and motion.

**What You'll Do**

- Shoot candid, in-the-moment visuals for local Maine businesses:
    - Street-style photography and video of daily operations, customer interactions, community ties
    - Mini-documentary style content showing real work, passion, and people (not posed "picture day" portraits unless for a specific feature)
    - High-clarity stills (4K minimum) and ultra-smooth video sequences utilizing gimbals, sliders, and cinematic techniques
- If capturing audio (interviews, ambient, etc.), ensure proper mic'ing of subjects and environments for clean, professional sound
- Deliver assets that become the core of website hero images, social media, YouTube pieces, and full video packages regional television commercials

**What We Value Most**

- **Cinematic eye** — masterful use of natural/available lighting, unique angles, thoughtful backgrounds, and composition that elevates everyday business moments
- Storytelling through visuals — ability to capture emotion, authenticity, and narrative in candids (e.g., a mechanic at work, a restaurateur greeting regulars, a contractor team in action)
- Technical excellence: sharp, high-res stills (4K+); buttery-smooth video with stabilization gear; clean audio when needed
- Maine location preferred — quick access to Portland-area and statewide clients; occasional travel ok
- Reliability & professionalism: clear communication, on-time delivery, respect for business environments and people
- Passion for small business stories — you get that these aren't corporate shoots; they're about real people building real lives

**What We Offer**

- **Very competitive compensation** — we pay premium rates for talent who truly understands and delivers storytelling through photography and videography
- Creative freedom: we respect your artistic vision and want your unique eye to shine
- Meaningful projects: help Maine small businesses stand out and grow through authentic, emotional visuals
- Long-term partnership potential for consistent, high-impact collaborators
- A team that values integrity, transparency, mutual respect, and shared success

Images and video are the emotional core of everything we create—if you're the one who can make a contractor's workshop feel alive or a restaurant's bustle feel welcoming, this is a rewarding fit.
